Recently we launched our new ward training programme, Keeping Stoma Care Simple. This is aimed at nurses working on the wards, healthcare assistants (HCA’s) or any healthcare professionals working with patients directly or soon after surgery.
The goal is to support the specialist stoma care teams with training of staff that will be interacting with and therefore impacting the patients recovery after stoma surgery.
Gareth recently provided a very successful training programme with Derriford Hospital. Talking about the psychological issues that new patients have to deal with post surgery and how important a correctly fitting bag can be. Keeping everything simple and interactive meant a fun time was had by both Gareth and all attendees.
